Kids’ Activities

"Before a child talks, they sing. Before they write, they draw. As soon as they stand, they dance. ART is fundamental to human expression.’
Phylicia Rashad

Creativity comes naturally to kids. Part of our mission at ArtsFest is to help connect young people to their instinctive love of art and nature. Children and teens of every age are always welcome at ArtsFest events, where we have art and nature-oriented activities for them and their families to enjoy together.

Some of the fun activities we’ve had at Overlea ArtsFest are:

  • Painted Puzzle Blocks provided by juried artist Bob Godin
  • Drawing with live animals from Holt Park
  • Blackout Poetry activity with Rosedale Public Library
  • Stamping Fun with nature stamps
  • Create a Button with Artists & Craftsman store
  • Draw your own mural
  • Dinosaur and fossil cutouts with the Natural History Society
  • Angel Wings at St. Michael/St. Clement’s School
  • Scavenger Hunts on the nature trails at Holt Park

In 2023, our 1st Youth Art Show made its début with great success. Every year, the Youth Art Show will be a part of our commitment to the local community by showcasing original work by young artists between 6 and 17 years of age.  In 2025, the Youth Art Show takes place on June 6th, 7th and 8th at Holt Park & Center for the Arts. For info, click here.

Teachers, art educators and high school volunteers are encouraged to reach out to us with their ideas. If your organization or school would like for your students to participate in the Youth Art Show, contact us
